Sustainable engagement
Commitment to sustainability and protection of the environment
In Ushio’s Environmental Policy, the globally active Ushio Group sets out its clear commitment to the sustainable use of resources and a careful approach to the environment.
For Ushio Europe B.V. and its European subsidiaries, it goes without saying that they are committed to recycling old lamps and electrical appliances in Europe in a legally compliant and environmentally friendly manner.
The European WEEE Directive 2002/96/EC, amended by the Directive 2012/19/EU (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment), regulates the obligation of manufacturers, importers and dealers to take back waste electrical and electronic equipment and has been transposed into national law in all member states.
The symbol of the crossed-out dustbin shown on lamps, electrical and electronic equipment or batteries indicates that the respective device must not be disposed of in household waste at the end of its service life.
Societies have been established in all EU member states, and the UK, to organise the collection of lamps and waste electrical equipment, recover valuable raw materials and dispose of the non-recyclable parts in an environmentally sound manner.
Customers in Germany and the UK can return their used lamps directly to the following organisations or the collection points they offer:
- Germany – Lightcycle – lightcycle.de
- United Kingdom – Recolight Ltd – recolight.co.uk
All other customers are requested to contact their local importers or dealers of the Ushio and BLV brands. They will be happy to advise you on disposal options in accordance with national legislation.
If you need further assistance, you are also welcome to contact us.
